About
fabric & Felt by Sarah
Hi everyone! Welcome to my sparkly new Website!
** Update! I’m so sorry but at the moment my sewing is currently on hold while I concentrate on my Workshop side of my business! I’m sorry if this does cause any inconvenience. **
My name is Sarah and I started my little business whilst on furlough during lockdown. My anxiety was through the roof and I really needed some focus and structure to my days. I needed a hobby that would give me a purpose and I had always sewn while growing up, both hand sewing and machine sewing but hadn’t done any for years! And so I decided to start sewing again and loved the idea of creating gifts and cards for people using hand and machine sewing.
My hubby bought me a new machine and I started to practice again, quickly moving on to free motion sewing and just got completely hooked! I started to make greeting cards for family and friends and my little business quickly grew. I know stock in a few different shops, through my social media accounts, at Artisan markets and on Etsy. My range has changed a few times over the years and I have now streamlined it to offer cards, small gifts, tote bags and gift boxes. I have a real passion for vintage and preloved materials and try to use them in my work as much as possible. I’m lucky to get given lots of fabric and I use that in my workshops, to make tote bags, to make my fabric journals and in my gift boxes. I love the fact that all this unwanted fabric is being repurposed and saved from landfill.
I’m also thrilled to now be offering workshops with the focus on how much being creative can really help in combatting stress through mindfulness practice.. I am passionate about showing people of all ages how even a short time concentrating on making something lovely can really help you to unwind and de-stress. In my new venture The Haven, above Leek Wow Hub, Leek I intend to bring people together to learn new things, to mingle with like minded people and to leave feeling a little bit happier whatever their ability! I truly believe that my sewing and my little business saved me from being really poorly during lockdown. In addition to this, in 2023 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue syndrome and my sewing now plays a huge part in helping me adjust to a new pace of life by allowing me to be creative and mindful everyday. I can’t wait to share this passion for creating with you all!
